Ohio task force grapples with bedbug problem

CLEVELAND (AP) — More bedbugs are moving into northeast
Ohio, and Cleveland area organizations have formed a task force to
develop plans for dealing with them.
The Bed Bug Task Force wants
to teach people how to prevent taking the blood-sucking parasites home
and what to do if they find an infestation.
The (Cleveland) Plain Dealer (http://bit.ly/S0vTT1 ) reports that the 30-member
task force meets monthly to share the
latest information. It will host an annual bedbug conference next month.
The
Cleveland Health Department has received about 500 complaints of
bedbugs this year. That’s compared to 390 at this time last year. The
county health department has received more than 1,000 calls for
community assistance related to the pests.
In August, the downtown federal building had to be treated for the pests.
