TOLEDO – A celebration of the 80th birthday of jazz pianist Claude Black will be held
as part of Jazz on the Maumee Wednesday 5 to 7 p.m. at the Grand Plaza Hotel’s
Aqua Lounge, 444 N Summit St.The Detroit native started his career at 16. He
worked with vocalist Dakota Staton and saxophonist Earl Bostic before joining
the band of Aretha Franklin just on the cusp of her stardom. He spent more than
two decades with as a member of The Murphys.Admission is $15 and $10 for members
