GRAND RAPIDS – President Tracy Bostelman opened the Oct. 4 meeting with eight members present. Paid
membership stands at 74.
The post will host a soup supper with dessert for the veterans on Nov. 12 between 4:30 and 7 p.m.
There will be a fish supper on Oct. 19 from 5 to 7 p.m. Cost is $9.
The unit members will help with the Halloween parade at Grand Rapids on Oct. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Karen Dress reported that the poppy makers will receive 10 cents a poppy.
The unit will again be making Cookies in a Jar for the Otsego Food Bank. These may be brought in at the
next meeting or dropped off before Nov. 16.
The new VA Clinic in Toledo will have a grand opening Nov. 9 at 3 p.m. It is open to the public.
The unit made payments including $60 to the American Child Welfare Fund, in memory of Donna Myers, Sally
Myers, Marion Heyman and Robert Huffman; and paid ALA Department dues of $318; $160 to the SAL for lawn
services; $100 for hall cleaning; $50 for Freedom Car; $24 for installation banquet reservations, and
$77, poppy mailing.
The unit will be taking up a collection of hats, mittens, gloves and underwear for children in the lower
elementary grades instead of exchanging Christmas gifts.
