Owens hosting series of war documentaries

Four nationally-known films depicting the emotional, mental and physical toll of war
will be featured in the War Film Series series beginning Thursday at Owens
Community College, off Oregon Road in Perrysburg Township.
The series is sponsored by Office of Veterans Services. Each film will be shown in
the Center for Fine and Performing Arts’ Mainstage Theatre.
The films will also be shown on separate dates in Education Center Room 111 on the
Findlay campus. Films will be screened at noon on both campuses.
"Alive Day Memories: Home from Iraq", which details 10 American soldiers
and their narrow brushes with death on the desert battlefield, will be shown
Thursday.
Also on the schedule are:
• "Restrepo," which takes viewers inside a 90-minute deployment in
Afghanistan’s Korengal Valley with the Second Platoon, Jan. 17 and in Findlay
Jan. 10.
• "Lioness", a documentary that pays tribute to the female soldiers who
engaged in combat in the Iraq War even though official U.S. policy dictated they
were forbidden from doing so. March 21 and in Findlay March 14.
• Wartorn" explores combat stress and post-traumatic stress on military
personnel and their families throughout recorded American military history. May
2 and in Findlay April 4.
