TODAY
ARTalks continues with "The Highway of Thought" presented by David
Hilliard, a photographer from Boston, Mass. His talk will begin at 7:30 p.m. in
204 Fine Arts Center.

ARTalks presents "Curiosities: Highlights of the Exhibit." The presentation
will include artwork by Rick Valicenti, who in 2006 was awarded the American
Institute of Graphic Artists Medal, considered the highest honor in the graphic
design profession. The event is from 5-6 p.m. in the Donnell Theatre at the
Wolfe Center for the Arts.
An opening reception for the "Curiosities: Rick Valicenti and the 21stCentury
Thirst" exhibit takes place from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. in the Willard Wankelman
Gallery at the Fine Arts Center.
OCT. 9
Tuesdays at the Gish continues this week with "My Man Godfrey." This 1936
screwball comedy directed by Gregory La Cava and starring William Powell and
Carole Lombard highlights class differences during the Depression era. The film
starts at 7:30 p.m. in the Gish Film Theater at Hanna Hall. Free
OCT. 10
Renowned bass-baritone Samuel Ramey will conduct a master class for BGSU voice
students at 7 p.m. in the Donnell Theatre of the Wolfe Center for the Arts. The
class is open to the public for observation. Ramey is the 2012-13 Helen McMaster
Endowed Professor in Vocal and Choral Performance and is in residence at the
College of Musical Arts through Oct. 11. Free
BGSU faculty will give scholarly and research presentations on a number of topics
during the Faculty Scholar Series at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall at the Moore
Musical Arts Center.
AT THE GALLERIES
"Out of Rubble: Artists’ Responses to War and its Aftermath," featuring the
work of 18 international artists, continues through Sunday.
"Curiosities: Rick Valicenti and the 21st Century Thirst" opens Oct. 8 at
10 a.m. in the Willard Wankelman Gallery at the Fine Arts Center. Valicenti’s
work represents art, function and real human presence, which is the focus of his
communication design firm Thirst/Chicago. The exhibit will continue through Nov.
11. Fine Art Center gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through
Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m. Thursdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.
The "Put Up and Shut Up" exhibition by BGSU alumna Cleo Brengman starts in
the Bowen-Thompson Student Union continues through Oct. 14. Gallery hours are 8
a.m. to 9 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. weekends.
