TV series turns lens on NW Ohio folks, sites

WBGU-TV, Northwest and West Central Ohio’s local PBS station announces the launch of Scenic Stops, a new
local program that will showcase fascinating people and places in our region. The series will launch
today at 8 p.m. on WBGU-TV.
Kathleen Phipps, a veteran journalist, will host the series.
Each episode will explore every inch of Northwest and West Central Ohio’s area and bring the most
interesting and unusual stories to viewers. A few scenic stops to date include the Spangler Candy
Company in Napoleon, Educational Tours at the OSU Stone Lab on Gibralter Island and the Chef’s Garden in
Huron. Also along the way, a behind the scenes tour with Scott Phillips of the national PBS program,
"American Woodshop", a unique cannon maker from Tiffin and a charming young lady who can
wrangle any snake-barehanded.
"We are very excited to produce Scenic Stops for the WBGU-TV viewing communities, and provide an
unusual look at the region we call home and the people we call neighbors," says Anthony Short,
WBGU-TV’s co-general manager and executive producer for the program. "It takes an innovative
initiative such as this one to capture the many unknown people and places that make Northwest and West
Central, Ohio a very unique place to live."
