Constance Phillips has had a long-standing interest in the paranormal.
"I have always been into mythical creatures and the mystical world even before I
started reading paranormal romance," Phillips said.
The Perrysburg resident began writing her own stories in junior high that tended
toward fiction and romance. That eventually evolved into paranormal romance,
which is the genre of her first published book, "Fairyproof," released
earlier this month.
"Fairyproof "is centered around heroine, Monique, a fairy, who travels
between the fairy and human worlds.
"She’s got an unwanted marriage waiting for her in the fairy world and an
overbearing brother. When she gets to the human world, she encounters the hero,
Daniel, who is not impacted by her ability to control humans."
Monique can control any human, with the exception of Daniel, with a flirtatious smile
and an attraction spell.
"It’s pretty common among fairy lore that humans find fairies
irresistible," Phillips said.
Phillips, a former writer/editor for an online magazine, described her writing style
as very character-driven.
"I like to get into who the characters are and what makes them tick," she
said.
And true to the genre, the romance story is always central in her books.
But, to keep readers on their toes, Phillips said she likes to mix in some mystery.

Within Fairyproof is a sub-plot about fairies being murdered.
"I have heard from a few people who don’t read paranormal and they said there
were a lot of twists and turns and they didn’t know what was going to happen
next," Phillips said.
Fairyproof is published by Crescent Moon Press, which has already signed a contract
with Phillips for her second paranormal romance, "Resurrecting Harry,"
to be published next year.
Then novel is available at most online bookstores.
