Japan and the North American Studio Glass Movement" continues through Sept.
23 in Willard Wankelman Gallery in the Fine Arts Center. The exhibit
demonstrates the art of studio glass and the relationship between Japanese
artists and North American artists of Japanese descent."Celebration of
Distinction: Tom Muir, Jewelry/Metals Alumni and the Dorothy Price
Collection" continues through Sept. 23 in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery in
the Fine Arts Center."Out of Rubble: Artists’ Responses to War and its
Aftermath," featuring the work of 18 international artists, continues
through Oct. 7 . in the Dorothy Uber Bryan Gallery Foyer.Fine Arts Center
gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, 6 to 9 p.m.
Thursdays, and 1 to 4 p.m. Sundays.SUNDAYFlute faculty member Conor Nelson will
be in recital featuring feature works by Harvey, Dutilleux and Schubert at 3
p.m. in the Great Gallery at the Toledo Museum of Art.MONDAYARTalks will host
Susanne Slavick and Andrew Ellis Johnson from 6-7 p.m. in the Hiroko Nakamoto
Gallery in the Fine Arts Center. Slavick is the curator of the "Out of
Rubble: Artists’ Responses to War and its Aftermath" exhibition. Johnson is
an artist and an associate professor of art at Carnegie Mellon.TUESDAYThe
Tuesdays at the Gish series resumes with the 2012 Ann Arbor Film Festival. The
festival is celebrating its 50th year and includes award-winning independent and
experimental films. The screenings start at 7:30 p.m. in Gish Film Theater at
Hanna Hall.WEDNESDAYJazz professor and guitarist Christopher Buzzelli will
perform a faculty recital at 8 p.m. in Bryan Recital Hall at the Moore Musical
Arts Center.ARTalks will host John McMorrough at 6:30 p.m. in the Bowen-Thompson
Student Union Theater. McMorrough is a principal architect in studioAPT and
chair of the Architecture Program at the University of Michigan’s Taubman
College.
