Black Swamp fest auctioning quilt featuring T-shirt art
The Black Swamp Arts Festival will be raffling off a T-shirt quilt this year in
celebration of the 20th annual Black Swamp Arts Festival. The quilt was
sponsored by Ben Franklin and The Busy Thimble, and was produced by artist
Connie Miller.
The quilt contains artwork from all 20 Black Swamp Arts Festival T-shirts.
Tickets are $1 or 6 for $5 and can be purchased in advance at Ben Franklin Crafts,
The Busy Thimble and the BG Convention and Visitors Bureau. Tickets will be sold
during the festival at both the Info Booth and the BSAF Merchandise Tent.
The drawing will be held Sept. 9 at the festival. Winner need not be present to win.

North Coast Big Band to play in Grand Rapids
GRAND RAPIDS – The North Coast Big Band will perform a Rhythm on the River concert
Sunday at 4:00 p.m. in the Wright Pavilion located on the towpath between the
canal and the Maumee River at the end of Lincoln Street behind LaRoe’s
Restaurant.
This is the band’s 14th appearance as part of the series.
The 16-piece big band, under the direction of Gary Keller, was formed in 1988 by
members of the North Coast Concert Band. The group’s repertoire includes
traditional big band music from bands led by Glenn Miller, Artie Shaw, Count
Basie, and Duke Ellington along with other swing band favorites including vocal
features.
Edgy Rep auditions set
TOLEDO – Auditions for the Toledo Repertoire Theatre’s Edgy Rep series during their
upcoming 80th Anniversary season will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the theater,
16 Tenth Street.
The plays scheduled are:
• David Mamet’s "November," directed by Tracy Lustic, scheduled for Oct. 13
at Pam’s Corner, 116 Tenth Street.
• Martin McDonagh’s "The Pillowman," directed by Stephen Harrick, scheduled
for Feb. 2 at the University of Toledo.
• Billy Van Zandt and Jane Milmore’s "You’ve Got Hatemail," directed by
Cindy Bilby, scheduled for March 23 at Owens Community College in Perrysburg
Township.

Singer Lefevre releases CD
TOLEDO – Vocalist Lori Lefevre with pianist Eric Dickey will mark the release of the
singer’s new CD in a Jazz On the Maumee concert Aug. 29 in the Grand Plaza
Hotel’s Aqua Lounge, 444 N Summit St.
Tickets to the event sponsored by Toledo Art Tatum Jazz Society are $15 and $10 for
society members.
Area children’s choir to hold auditions
WHITEHOUSE – Auditions for the Children’s Choir of Northwest Ohio will be held on
Sept. 5, 6 and 10 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Community of Christ Lutheran Church, 6510
Finzel Road.
The Children’s Choir of Northwest Ohio is a non-profit community children’s choir for
children in grades 3-10. All information about auditions and our upcoming season

Findlay casting youth musical
FINDLAY – The Arts Partnership of Greater Hancock County’S Youtheatre will hold
auditions for "Once on this Island Jr." Monday and Tuesday at 6 p.m.
in the Great Room at First Presbyterian Church, 2330 South Main St.
The auditions are open to students in grades 6 through 12. Technical crew interviews
will be held as well. The performances will be October 19-21 at the church.
