Flying Joe hosts shows
PERRYSBURG – The Flying Joe, 2130 Preston Parkway, will feature Ryan Helwig tonight from 8 to 10.
Also scheduled this month are:
• Ryan Dunlap, Aug. 19, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
• Open mic, Aug. 23, from 7 to 9 p.m.
• Bob Theroux, Aug. 24 from 8 to 10 p.m.
• Ben Miller, Aug. 25, from 8 to 10 p.m.
Rod’s Collision returns
The local blues band Rod’s Collision will reunite for a show tonight at Howard’s Club H in Bowling Green.

The blues rockers will share the bill with the Joe Baker Band.
The show, from 7 to 10 p.m., is a benefit for the Kelly Wicks campaign.
Corn City Festival features Idol contest, Red Wanting Blue
DESHLER – The Corn City Idol competition and a show by nationally-known rocker Red Wanting Blue will
highlight the Corn City Festival, Aug. 18 and 19
The Corn City Idol Contest will be held Aug. 19 at 4 p.m. for performers 10 and older. The winner gets a
$150 prize and the runnerup gets $50. The contest is open to soloists, groups, dancers, instrumentalists
and comedy acts. A popular vote from the audience will decide the winner.
Entries will be accepted until Aug. 18 6 p.m. at the information tent in City Park. For further

Red Wanting Blue, fresh off its appearance on "Late Night with David Letterman" will headline
the Saturday evening show. Preceding the Columbus-based band in the main stage in the beer garden will
be the Rosebrook-Hoops Polka Band and Kyle Rettig.
During the day in the park’s gazebo 2011 Corn City Idol Winner Kalyn Blue will perform along with Hope
Yarnell and Carmen Hogrefe, On Sunday, One Way, the Henry County Chorale, and the Deshler Community Band
will perform in the gazebo followed by the Corn City Idol Competition and the Miss Corn City Pageant on
the main stage.

Young Rep staging ‘Once on This Island’
TOLEDO – Young Rep Productions will present the musical, "Once on This Island Jr." Aug. 16, 17
and 18 at 7 p.m. and Aug. 19 at 2:30 p.m. at The Rep’s 10th Street stage 16 10th St.
Under the direction of Shauna Newbold, Once on this Island Jr. delivers a moving message about the power
of love and self-sacrifice, and features some of the area’s top young talent ranging in ages from 6 to

Artists display images of parks & recreation
TOLEDO – The Toledo Artists’ Club’s Parks and Recreation Show is now on display in the club’s gallery in
the Toledo Botanical Gardens, 5403 Elmer Drive.
The show remains on exhibit through Aug. 30.
John Cook, Toledo, won the American Frame Best of Show Award for "Great Smokey Mountains."
The gallery is open 1 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday.
