Starbucks displays PRIZM art
PERRYSBURG – PRIZM Creative Community is sponsoring a new collection of Art at the
Starbucks, 3145 Levis Commons Blvd., in Levis Commons.
The exhibit, "Color Me Vivid," features the work of three PRIZM artists,
Ruth Koskinen, Katherine Pattay, and Nancy Stonerock and will be on view through
the month of July. Participating in the exhibit is. Whose combined talents
represent a wide variety of medias and techniques.
Ruth Koskinen is a retired art teacher whose palette knife floral painting shows both
spontaneity and creative use of color. Her graphic tri-canvas painting called
"She Plays with the Primaries," uses shapes of color placed at
seemingly different distances creating interesting patterns.
Katherine Pattay whose recent retirement has allowed her to pursue a lifetime passion
for creative work includes works in a wide variety of medias and for this public
display including printmaking, embossing, pastels and watercolor.
Nancy Stonerock is a watercolorist who has chosen to share two original paintings of
Indian Dancers in her Sundancer Series. She also has on display vibrant
watercolor floral and contemporary oil.
Talent contest part of Fostoria July 4th
FOSTORIA – Contestants are being sought for Fostoria’s Got Talent Contest which will
be held as part of the celebration July 4 at 2 p.m. in Meadowlark Park.
The talent competition will be held from 6 to 8 p.m.
Contestants can sign up at the mayor’s office or on the day of the event from 2 to
5:30 p.m. in the Meadowlark Park Amphitheater.
The contest has three age categories: 5 to 12; 13 to 18; and 19 and older. Winners
will receive cash prizes.
The July 4th festivities include music by Klashing Black at 2 p.m., singer-songwriter
Jay King at 3 p.m. and singer-songwriter LaMarr Ferguson at 4 p.m.
Following the talent contest Danielle and the Hanson Brothers will perform at 8:15
p.m. to dusk when the fireworks display begins.
Symphony concert band entertains at Hayes Center
FREMONT – The Toledo Symphony Concert Band, under the direction of Sam Szor,. will
perform the Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center’s Independence Day Concert,
Wednesday from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
A highlight of the Independence Day Concert is the presence of costumed Civil War
reenactors from Gillmor’s Ordinance. The soldiers punctuate performance of the
1812 Overture by firing cannons.
A refreshment stand will be in operation on the grounds. Concert attendees are
reminded to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy this outdoor event. Seating
is throughout the shaded lawn in front of the home of 19th U.S. President
Rutherford B. Hayes.
Both the Hayes Home and Hayes Museum are open before and after the concert from noon
to 5 p.m. The Hayes Home has been undergoing a historically accurate restoration
of its interior. Tours of the Hayes Home cost $7.50/adult, $6.50/seniors 60+,
and $3/children 6-12.
The Hayes Museum currently is an exceptional value! It is hosting TWO temporary
exhibits The Wildlife Art of Bob Hines and The Gilded Age of Haviland China.
There is no extra fee to view these exclusive exhibits. Both are included in the
regular Museum admission price of $7.50/adult, $6.50/seniors 60+, and
$3/children 6-12.
