Teen pianist gives recital
Pianist Grace O’Hare will present a solo recital Saturday at 1 p.m. in the Owens Community College’s
Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Room 111.
O’Hare, 14, will perform music by Mozart, Bach, Beethoven, Chopin, Kabalevsky, Debussy and Bartok as well
as film music.
The daughter of Gina and Jack O’Hare, of Bowling Green, she studies with Cheryl Magrum.
Voice students featured at Brown Bag Series show
A voice recital by BGSU students of Chelsea Cloeter will be the program for the Brown Bag Music Series,
Friday at 11:45 a.m. at the Simpson Building, 1291 Conneaut Ave.
The series is a collaboration between City of Bowling Green Parks and Recreation Department and the
College of Musical Arts at Bowling Green State University.
Listeners are invited to bring their lunches. Beverages and dessert is available for purchase.
Gallery reception to be held for woodworker Bud Dennis
Woodworking, including inlay work and turning, by Bud Dennis will be featured during a reception Friday
from 6 to 8 p.m. at Akimbo Gallery, 175 N. Main St., Bowling Green.
The band, Toraigh, which features Mary Dennis on fiddle and Bob Midden on Irish flute and Uilleann pipes,
will play traditional Irish music. Refreshments will be served.
Bud Dennis has lived and worked in the Bowling Green area for more than 50 years. Having just celebrated
his 86th birthday on Feb. 11, Dennis’s work features turned wooden bowls and small flocked jewelry
boxes, some that even feature a secret compartment, in addition to small wooden vessels and vases.
Russian folk troupe at BGSU
The Golden Gates Russian Folk Music and Dance Troupe will present family concerts at Bowling Green State
University’s Firelands and BG campuses this week.
Today, the troupe ill perform at 7 p.m. in the Cedar Point Center in Huron.
Friday the troupe will perform at BGSU’s main campus at 7:30 p.m. in 201 Bowen-Thompson Student Union.

A Russian folk music workshop will be given Friday at 2:30 p.m. in 1040 Moore Musical Arts Center, and
the group’s dancers will present a workshop on Russian folk dance at 3 p.m. Friday in 213 Olscamp Hall.

Golden Gates’ performances feature singing, dancing, humor and traditional Russian instruments. The
repertoire is centered on masterpieces of Russian folklore and represents the diversity of the culture,
ranging from gently humorous songs to elaborate lyrical suites, to pulsating dance numbers.
Pen & ink workshop offered
PERRYSBURG – PRIZM Creative Community will sponsor Pen & Ink Practicum on Saturday from 1 to 3:30
p.m, at the Way Library, 101 E. Indiana Ave.
Presenter Brian Spieldenner teaches the use of pen and ink to create gradients and textures resulting in
stunning tone on tone drawings. In this session Spieldenner will give additional information on
textures, depth, architectural drawings as well as introduction to coloring techniques. Those
participants who attended the January workshop are invited to bring their current pen and ink projects
for feedback and opportunity for personal pointers and encouragement.
The instructional cost of this workshop is $20 for PRIZM members and $25 for non-members and class is

Open mic night Feb. 22
PERRYSBURG – An Open Mic Night will be held Feb. 22 from 7 to 9 p.m. at The Flying Bean, 2130 Preston
Parkway.
