Festival photo show opening at Grounds

An exhibit of photos of the Back Swamp Arts Festival taken by members of the Gang of 35 will open at a
party at 8 p.m. Grounds for Thought, 174 S. Main St. Bowling Green.
The Joe Baker Band will perform at the event.
The Gang of 35 was started by Kelly Wicks, proprietor of Grounds and chairman of the festival’s
performance committee, for the 2009 festival, then revived it for this year’s festival.
The show features the work of a couple dozen "photography enthusiasts" ranging in age from 9 to
over 70. Each used a similar Canon Rebel 35mm camera and was provided with three 24-exposure rolls of
200 ASA film.
The exhibit will feature three large prints from each photographer and multiple smaller prints, about
1,000 images in all.
Those cover the entire event from set up through tear down, and all aspects – food, youth arts, music and
visual art.
Wicks said "the overall theme is how much fun these people are having."
The experience varies from kids taking their first photos to Louis Staeble, a photographer whose work was
included in this year’s Toledo Area Artist Exhibition.
No matter their experience, Wicks said, "everyone manages to come up with three really good
shots."
