BG exercise program is for breast cancer patients
A free tailored exercise program is being offered for Wood County residents who are newly diagnosed with
breast cancer, currently undergoing treatment, or a survivor.
A kick-off and open house event for CURE (A Community Uniting Through Relationships and Exercise) is
slated for this Thursday from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. in the meeting room of Bowling Green State University’s
Perry Field House on Mercer Road. Attendees will meet the CURE trainers, learn about the program, and
visit with representatives from the sponsoring Susan G. Komen Foundation. Refreshments will be served
and give-aways provided.
The tailored exercise program is taught by certified cancer exercise trainers.
Strength training and cardio will be held Tuesdays from 8 to 9 a.m. and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m.,
beginning Oct. 4.
Aqua Fit is Tuesdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. and Fridays from 8 to 9 a.m. Both strength training and Aqua
Fit will be held in the BGSU Recreation Center, in Wellness Connection Room 214 at 1411 Ridge Road.

Nightfall Festival at Toledo
TOLEDO – Toledo Botanical Garden will present Nightfall Festival this Friday and Saturday from 4 to 10
p.m. The garden is located at 5403 Elmer Drive, and the festival can be accessed off of either Elmer
Drive or Bancroft Street.
The cost will be $7 for adults, $6 for students and seniors (60 and older), $5 for botanical garden
members and children 12 and under get in free.
The festival will feature an eerie lantern walking tour, a the creature of Crosby Lake horse-drawn wagon
ride, trick-or-treating and live music.
Mac Queen’s festival set
HOLLAND – Mac Queen’s 30th annual apple butter festival and craft show will be Saturday and Sunday from
10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the orchard’s farm market at 7605 Garden Road in Holland.
Entertainment is scheduled from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
There will be kiddie rides, pony rides, face painting, wagon rides and area craftsmen.
Pet adoption fees lowered
TOLEDO – Toledo Area Humane Society is reducing adoptions fees through this Sunday.
Adoption fees are lowered for all Lonely Hearts Club members (those that have been at the shelter for
longer than 60 days) to just $10.
There also are several featured dogs that are not yet members of the Lonely Hearts Club, but have been at
the shelter for a while so the society is reducing their adoption fees as well.
The adoption fee on all adult cats is reduced to $25.
