Students at Perrysburg & Maumee organize fundraiser to benefit Claire’s Day

For the third year, student councils from both Maumee and Perrysburg high schools are uniting to sponsor
a 5K run/walk between the rival schools on Oct. 23 at Side Cut Metropark.
The event is sponsored by Team Sports, Inc.
A Fun Run will begin at 1 p.m. and the 5K will begin at 1:30 p.m.
"This year, the groups have chosen to give the proceeds from the event to Claire’s Day,"
explained Kevin English, PHS teacher and track coach. "This organization promotes reading and
literacy. It’s such a good cause, we’re really hoping for a great turnout again this year."
The proceeds from the first year – more than $4,000 – went to Hospice of Northwest Ohio, and last year
Lake High School received $3,200.
The 3rd annual Rivalry Run: Race for the Bell will kick off Spirit Week before the Maumee-Perrysburg
football game.
New this year: youth shirts, kids’ 1 mile Fun Run, cheerleaders, football player autographs, bagels and
bananas for runners, and a pep band.
All ages are welcome. Participants are encouraged to wear their school’s colors and spirit wear.
Contact the schools for registration forms.
