Owens president stepping down due to health reasons

Larry G.
McDougle

Due to health reasons, Owens Community College President Larry G.
McDougle will retire at the end of this month, not in June as he had
originally planned.
The announcement was made this morning that McDougle and the college’s
Board of Trustees have mutually agreed on the new retirement plan.
His last day will be Sept. 30.
“This is certainly one of the hardest decisions I have had to make in my
life,” said McDougle in a statement released by the college. “With the
support of my family, my physician and the Board of Trustees, I have
decided to retire as Owens Community College’s president for health
reasons.”
Those health issues have not been disclosed.
The board has appointed John Satkowski, executive vice president of
Business Affairs and chief financial officer, to serve as interim
president. He will formally assume the new responsibilities Oct. 1.
The college continues to conduct a national search to replace McDougle.
