Black Swamp Quilters to meet
The September meeting of the Black Swamp Quilt Guild will be held on Thursday. Doors open at 6 p.m. and
the meeting is at 7 at the BG Parks’ Simpson building at 1291 Conneaut Ave.
The program is about historical quilts. Member Pat Essex will give the presentation on signature quilts.
Some signature quilts were made during the Civil War to raise money but Essex will tell much more about
their history.
There will be a short business meeting and the usual "show and tell." The public is welcome.

BG Women’s Club year begins
The Bowling Green Women’s Club’s first meeting of the new year will be held tonight at 7 at the
clubhouse, 134 N. Prospect St.
Members will celebrate their new year by burning the loan documents on the clubhouse improvements, and by
installing new members. The meal will be a traditional potluck.
Interested members of the community are always welcome at meetings. Call club president Norma Stickler at

Otsego ’66 reunion slated
The Otsego High School Class of 1966 will hold a reunion this weekend, Sept. 9-11.
Events include a Friday meeting at Doc’s in Tontogany around 7 p.m. for social time, Saturday dinner held
at the Lybarger-Grimm American Legion Hall starting at 6 p.m. and Sunday brunch at Nazareth Hall from 11
a.m. to 3 p.m. All Otsego former classmates and friends from other years are invited to stop in at Doc’s
to visit.
Miss Ohio charity bike tour headed this way
Miss Ohio 2011 Ellen Bryan is currently in the midst of a 27-day Bike Tour to raise funds for the
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals (CMNH) of Ohio. Her 27 day trip takes her to all six children’s
hospitals in Ohio and to scheduled stops in 45 cities along the way.
This Thursday, day 11 of her tour, Bryan pedals from Napoleon to Bowling Green where she will be the
guest speaker at the Kiwanis of Bowling Green. She will then ride to Perrysburg and make an appearance
at Walmart on Fremont Pike.
Friday’s route will take her from Perrysburg to Mercy Children’s Hospital of Toledo from 9-10 a.m. She
will then bike to Cedar Point with brief stops in Oak Harbor and Port Clinton.
Averaging 40 miles per day, Bryan hopes to raise $100,000 for the charity.
She will represent Ohio at the Miss America Pageant on Jan. 14 in Las Vegas live on ABC.
