The Perrysburg Twirling Sophisticates competed at Twirling Unlimited’s national competition in Canton
this summer.
Fifteen girls participated in the July 8-10 competition at the Canton Civic Center.
Solo results were:
• Miranda VanHoozen, National 3 Baton Champion for the 15-17 years-old age group. She is 15 and a feature
twirler for St. John’s High School in Toledo.
• Ashlee Banas, National 3 Baton Champion for the 18-year-plus age group. She is 19 and a feature twirler
for the University of Toledo.
• Perrysburg Junior High School Majorettes were National Junior High Majorette Champions.
• Sophisticates Large Strut Line were the National Strut Line Champions.
The Sophisticates are coached by Andrea Whiting.
