Villages collaborate on concert series

Art boosters in Pemberville and Grand Rapids are joining forces to present Live in the House concerts in
historic opera houses in both villages.
The Pemberville Opera House has presented the series for three years under the direction of Carol Bailey.

The concerts will now be presented the first weekend of each month in Pemberville on Saturday at 7:30
p.m. in the Pemberville Opera House, and on Sunday at 2 p.m. in Grand Rapids. (April shows will be a
week later because of Easter.)
The series opens with Chicago-based folksinger Mark Dvorak on Sept. 3 and 4 presenting his show
"Just Something My Grandma Used To Sing."
Since 1981, Dvorak has criss-crossed the country visiting big cities and small towns. He’s been hailed as
"a refreshing portrait of the living folk tradition," and "a folk singer’s folk singer
who follows unerringly in the footsteps of Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie."
Other concerts scheduled are:
• Kuniko, ancient Japanese storytelling, music and origami, Oct. 1 and 2.
• Mr B, boogie woogie piano, Nov. 5 and 6.
• Maidens IV, Celtic music and dance, Dec. 3 and 4.
• Silent movie night with live piano, Jan. 7 and 8.
• Jason Farnham, "A Piano Valentine Just for You," Feb. 4 and 5.
• The Commanders of Harmony, barbershop harmony, March 3 and 4.
