Filmmakers invited to submit ‘fire & ice’ themed shorts

TOLEDO – The Toledo Museum of Art is inviting area filmmakers to submit short films for a
"fire-and-ice" themed film festival planned in conjunction with the Museum’s annual Winter
Ball.
The top 10 films, selected by a panel of judges, will be shown at an exclusive premiere screening at the
ball and on the TMA website for a month afterward. The competition is open to both amateur and
professional filmmakers. Videos are required to be less than four minutes in length.
Inspired by the theme "fire and ice," artists should create an art experience that is original
and exciting, regardless of genre, technique or budget. Entries may use animation, motion graphics,
narrative, non-narrative, time-based still images and other production techniques. Typical "home
video" will not be considered.
Entrants must be 18 years of age by Oct. 1, 2011 or have parental permission to take part. Only original
work not created for commercial purpose or made in an entrant’s professional capacity for profit will be
accepted. Individuals may submit up to three films.
Submissions will be accepted online between Oct. 1 and Oct. 31. Entrants whose films are chosen for
screening will receive an invitation to attend the Winter Ball on Dec. 10 in the Glass Pavilion. The
ball is a fundraiser to support the Museum’s Community ArtReach programs.
