Read ‘Around the World in 100 Days’ for library discussion
Teens are invited to pick up a copy of "Around the World in 100 Days" by Gary Blackwood at the
Wood County District Public Library Children’s Place desk.
Harry Fogg, son of the famous Phileas Fogg who traveled around the world in 80 days, has just made his
own bet: that he can take one of the new automobiles around the world.
Nobody trusts these "contraptions" or thinks they’re fast or reliable. Can he pull it off?
Discuss the book and eat ice cream – with topping from around the world – on July 22 at 4 p.m. in the
Children’s Place Program Room at the Wood County District Public Library.
Teens honored for volunteering through Kohl’s Cares program
Two local teens are among 2,200 young volunteers recognized by the Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program.
Christine Dubler, 18, Bowling Green, and Isaac Schulz, 11, Rossford, will each receive a $50 gift card
and recognition certificate from Kohl’s to reward efforts that have made a difference in their
communities.
The 112 winners from Ohio and other kids from around the country qualify for the chance to receive a
$1,000 regional scholarship for post-secondary education, which Kohl’s will award in July.
Of the more than 200 regional winners, 10 national winners will each receive a total of $10,000 in
scholarships and Kohl’s will donate $1,000 to a nonprofit organization on each national winner’s behalf.
In total, Kohl’s will recognize nearly 2,200 nominees with nearly $420,000 in scholarships and prizes
this year.
Since the program began in 2001, Kohl’s has awarded more than 13,000 youth volunteers with more than $2.6
million in scholarships and prizes.
The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program is part of Kohl’s Cares, Kohl’s philanthropic program focused on
improving the lives of children.
Kohl’s Cares benefits children’s health and education initiatives nationwide through its merchandise
program, featuring special books and plush toys where 100 percent of net profit benefits children’s
initiatives, fundraising gift cards and the Associates in Action associate volunteer program.

The Kohl’s Cares Scholarship Program recognizes and rewards young volunteers (ages 6-18) who help make
