Hump Day Revue hosts benefit for Japanese potters
A fundraiser for ceramic artists affected by the earthquake and tsunami in Japan will be held as part of
the The Hump Day Revue tonight starting at 9 at Grumpy Dave’s, 104 S. Main St., Bowling Green.
To be sold at the fundraiser will be tea bowls created by ceramics students at Bowling Green State
University.
The effort to raise funds for the Mashiko Potters Fund was orchestrated by BGSU instructor Joe Pintz and
his students.
In addition a number of items donated by local businesses with be raffled off.
The show will feature a number of performers including Larry Batoki, Michael Goodman, Mitch &
Jessica, The Akronian Tiger, Nathan Kime, Tim South, Brandon Schneider, Mark Gorey and Ryan Brown.
Admission is free.
Young opera singers to perform at Way Library
PERRYSBURG – The Toledo Opera 2001 Artists in Residence will perform a free concert at Way Public Library
on Friday at 7 p.m.
This annual event is made possible by the library’s J. Paul Baldoni Opera Fund, the Way Public Library
Foundation and the Toledo Opera Guild. The young artists are in Toledo to perform a touring version of
Rossini’s "The Barber of Seville" in schools throughout the area, but at this event they will
sing selections from the great operas and provide interesting commentary.
The performers are tenor Jake Wilder, a recent graduate of Bowling Green State University and a winner of
the Competitions in Music there as well as mezzo-soprano Monica Sciaky, baritone Adam Cavagnaro and
baritone Jeremy Gilpatric.
Toledo Symphony previews Carnegie Hall program
TOLEDO – The Toledo Symphony Orchestra will preview the proram it will perform at Carnegie Hall in May at
a concert Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at Toledo Museum of Art Peristyle.
The program will open with Dmitri Shostakovich’s war-time Sixth Symphony conducted by Stefan Sanderling.

On the second half the one act theatrical piece "Every Good Boy Deserves Favour" written by
playwright Tom Stoppard and composer André Previn will be staged.
The members of the cast for the Cold-War themed play, directed by Cornel Gabara features actors David
DeChristopher and Pete Cross. Also in the cast are Yazan "Zack" Safadi, Kevin Hayes, Benjamin
Pryor and Pamela Tomasetti

Red Wanting Blue in BG
The Columbus based rock band Red Wanting Blue will perform Thursday at 9 p.m. at Howard’ Club H, 210 N.
Main St.
The band is touring support of its first official label release "These Magnificent Miles."
The band is: Scott Terry, vocals, tenor guitar and ukulele; Mark McCullough, bass andvocals; Greg Rahm,
guitar, keyboards and vocals; Eric Hall, guitar, lap steel and vocals; Dean Anshutz, drums and
percussion.
A afeature-length documnetary film about Red Wanting Blue is being produced by Davenport Theatrical.
