TOLEDO – Crystal Bowersox, the runner up in last season’s "American Idol," will perform a
benefit for the Toledo School of the Arts May 28 at 7 p.m. at the Valentine Theatre, 410 Adams St.
Proceeds from the performance benefit the students and programs of Toledo School for the Arts.
"As arts programming is being cut from school curriculum nationally, regionally and locally, it is
encouraging to know Crystal wants to help carry us through these challenging times," said Martin
Porter, director of the charter school.
Bowersox’s first studio recording, "Farmer’s Daughter" was released last year and chronicles
her years growing up in northwest Ohio.
In her official biography, Bowersox says: "It’s my life story, and that includes the good and bad
chapters. I hope that people can appreciate the honesty in the lyrics and get to know me as a person
through my music. I’m an open book and this is my diary."
Bowersox attended Toledo School for the Arts in high school before she left for Chicago to pursue her
goal of becoming a singer-songwriter.
Tickets are $35 to $69, plus handling fee, and go on sale at 10 a.m. April 30 at the Valentine box
office. Call (419) 242-2787.
