A Perrysburg man currently held in the Wood County jail on four counts of rape involving a child was
arraigned Monday afternoon.
Kevin Scott, age 49, appeared before Wood County Common Pleas Court Judge Robert Pollex for a bond
hearing. On behalf of his client, defense attorney Bill Hayes entered a not guilty plea to all four
counts as alleged in the indictment handed down last week.
Scott was arrested at his Third Street home in Perrysburg on April 5 after detectives from the Perrysburg
Police Department executed a search warrant. The warrant was issued in response to the report of past
offenses involving the sexual molestation of a child.
He was indicted on the four counts on April 6 for actions which are alleged to have occurred between June
1, 2003 and Aug. 31, 2006.
Heather Baker, an assistant Wood County prosecutor asked the judge to raise the $300,000 bond which had
been set in Perrysburg Municipal Court last week.
She informed the court, because of the age of the victim, Scott could be facing 10 years to life in
prison on each count.
Baker also noted he had been placed on a suicide watch at the jail and asked should he be released that
he surrender all weapons in his home to authorities.
Hayes argued bond should be lowered because he had lived in Perrysburg for the vast majority of his life
including the last 14 to 15 years at the same address.
The defense attorney also noted his family support in the courtroom, and asked for electronic home
monitoring.
The judge told the attorneys he would compromise and not make any change, neither lower or higher, and
thus leave his bond at $300,000 with no 10 percent applicable.
The judge also ordered no contact with the victim, and told the attorneys he would reconsider bond at the
May 10 pre-trial, which was set for 2:15 p.m.
The judge also set a two-day jury trial for June 23.
