BGSU offers music camps
Bowling Green State University’s College of Musical Arts will present the Summer Music Institute for
junior high and high school students, June 12-24.
The institute, "Where Music Takes Flight," offers eight camps designed for instrumentalists,
vocalists and recording artists.
Camps offered are:
¥ Recording studio directed by Robert Bruce.
¥ Double-reed making camp by Dr. Jacqueline Leclair and Dr. Nathaniel Zeisler
¥ Brass camp directed by Dr. Bill Mathis.
¥ Vocal arts camp directed by Christopher Scholl.
¥ Musical theater arts directed by Todd Schreiber.
¥ Piano camp directed by Dr. Solungga Fang-Tzu Liu.
¥ "Super Sax camp directed by Jeffrey Heisler.
The Summer Music Institute has been hailed by the Center for Talented Youth at Johns Hopkins University
as "one of the best summer programs for aspiring young musicians."
Registration deadline is May 10. Costs range from $175 to $495.

Owens displays student art
Owens Community College is hosting its annual Juried Student Art Exhibition through April 30 in the
Tejune Gallery in the Center for Fine and Performing Arts, Oregon Road, Perrysburg Township.
The exhibit includes 97 pieces of fine art, photography and commercial art by 57 students enrolled in art
courses at the college.
Owens students displaying artwork include: Tabitha Adams, Sarah Donnelly and Kathie Vanness, all of
Bowling Green; Mike Budyka, Jore Degollado, Mark Kowalski, Eunyoung Oh, Kyle Randolph and Brian White,
all of Perrysburg; Tyler Oberhouse, Luckey; Dana Almester and Kaitlin Kern, both of Rossford; Amy
Everett, Millbury; Maureen Cook, Cherie Guthrie and Amanda Hertzfeld, all of Waterville; and Shailyn
Hill of Deshler.
BGSU union gallery exhibits photographs of Indian temples
An exhibit of photographs of Indian temples by Ashutosh Sohoni, a professor in the School of Family and
Consumer Sciences, opens today with a reception from 5 to 6 p.m. in the art gallery of the Bowen-Thomson
Student Union at Bowling Green State University.
The exhibit, "Aedicuar Vernacular … Celebrating the Synthesis of Hindu and Islamic Traditions in
Indian Temple Architecture," continues at the gallery through May 2.
According to Sohoni: "The exhibit is based on several years of documentation and stylistic analysis
conducted within the context of patronage, political worldview, building technology, crafts and
religious circumstances. Temple photographs display prominent architectural features influenced by
political changes, territorial expansion, economic prosperity, and cross-cultural influences."
Fletcher headlines Hump Day
Singer-songwriter Zack Fletcher will headline the Hump Day Review Wednesday at Grumpy Dave’s, 104 S. Main
St., Bowling Green.
Opening the show will be Tyler Deal at 9 p.m. Fletcher will perform an hour-long set at 9:30 p.m.,
followed by Hump Day regulars and guests.
The show, hosted by Tim Concannon, is also seeking items for an auction or raffle that will be held at
the April 23 show to benefit Japanese relief efforts.
Local photographer shows
work at Black Sheep Gallery
PERRYSBURG – Black Sheep Photography Gallery at Levis Commons will hold a reception today from 4 to 8
p.m. for "Because It’s There," an exhibit of nature and wildlife photographs by Gary Bendig,
the owner of Kohne Camera store owner.
The show runs through June.
Also on display at the show is a selection of glass work from FireNation.
Exhibit hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and nights and weekends by appointment.

Space for artists available
GRAND RAPIDS – The Center for Creative Arts, 24195 Front St., has limited space available to show and
sell original artwork Sundays starting May 8 and continuing through Sept. 25.
Space is available by reservation for weekly, monthly or full season.

Jazz at Terra
FREMONT – Terra Community College’s Thunder Jazz Band will perform Friday at 7:30 p.m. in the Student
Activities Center.
The concert will feature guest performances by bands from Fremont Ross, Oak Harbor and Gibsonburg.
Admission for the program is $5.
