Garner’s blues detour bringing him to BG

Larry Garner plays at
the Clazel Thursday. Doors open at 8pm.

A detour on his way home from work, led Larry Garner to give up his
comfortable 9-to-5 routine working for Dow Chemical for the life of a
contemporary bluesman
The road brings the 2005 recipient of the coveted Muddy’s Club Bluebird
award to the Clazel, 127 N. Main St., Bowling Green. Call
Trying to navigate around an accident, he went by Tabby’s Blues Box
advertising a blues jam. He stopped by and the staff told him he needed
to come back at 10 p.m. Despite having to be up early the next day he
returned and played until the wee hours of the next morning.
From then on he devoted himself, first with occasional gigs then
full-time, to playing the music he grew up loving in Baton Rouge, La.
Garner has won over fans on both sides of the Atlantic, still touring
the U.S. in a 2000 Ford van that has over 365,000 miles on it.
Tickets are available at the theater Wednesday and Thursday after 7 p.m.
