BG Swim Club finishes fifth (03-08-11)

FREMONT – Bowling Green’s Swim Club finished fifth in the Northwest Ohio Short Course regional
championships.
BG scored 817 points in the meet. The Greater Toledo Aquatic Club was first in the nine-team meet with
4,669 points. BG’s girls were fourth with 626 points and the BG boys were eighth with 191 points.
Alyssa Decker led the Gators with four first-place finishes.
Decker, 13-14 girls, won the 100 breast stroke (1:13.63); 200 breast stroke (2:39.45); 200 butterfly
(2:21.74); and 400 individual medley (4:57.16).
BG’s Brigid Cavins, 10-and-under girls, won the 200 individual medley (2:50.28) and had six other
finishes in the top 13.
Also for Hannah Keiser, 13-14 girls, also had a strong meet, scoring in seven events, including a second
in the 200 backstroke. She also had one third, three fourths, a fifth and a seventh. Kayla Schrader,
10-and-under girls, also scored in seven events with two thirds, two sixths, two sevenths and an eighth.
Jacob Sobczak, 11-12 boys, was a seven-event scorer with seven finishes in the top 11.
BG’s Emmy Sehmann, 13-14 girls, won the 1,650 freestyle (18:04.34) and teammate Christian Sobczak, 13-14
boys, win the 400 individual medley (4:37.22).

¥ 10-and-under girls, Caitlyn Grubbs, three finishes in the top 16; Lily Hunter, one 15th; Rosa
Mejiritski, five finishes in the top 16; Elena Myrice, one 14th;
¥ 10-and-under boys, CJ Layne, four finishes in the top 16; Sean O’Donnell, a second and three other
finishes in the top seven;
¥ 11-12 girls, Emma Cavins, three finishes in the top 16; Kaylee Fair, six finishes in the top 15;
¥ 13-14 men, Corey Gilbert, four finishes in the top 13.
