BG women prepare for Senior Night (03-01-11)

It’s Senior Night for Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team Wednesday.
The Falcons face Buffalo with tipoff at 7 p.m. in the final women’s regular-season game scheduled for
Anderson Arena. The Falcons will play in the Stroh Center next season.
The current seniors have combined for 106 victories at Bowling Green, the fourth-most in school history.
Chelsea Albert, Tracy Pontius, Lauren Prochaska, Jen Uhl and Kelly Zuercher are in their fourth season
with the Falcons and Maggie Hennegan is in her second year after transferring from St. Louis.
"(It is) six seniors who have been the backbone of our success over the last four years," said
BG head coach Curt Miller. "(It will) be an emotional night for those six seniors.
"Anderson Arena (has) has become a very special place for us and has been a tremendous home court
advantage through the years," Miller added.
Bowling Green has won 45 of its last 47 games played in Anderson Arena.
"It’s an absolutely fantastic place to play," Miller said. "On game night with the crowd
in here, they are on top of you. With the fan base that we have, it clearly is a home-court advantage
and the fans are our sixth man."
SCOUTING BUFFALO: Buffalo is 15-13 overall and 8-7 in the MAC. Prochaska scored 30 points to help BG post
a 72-61 victory in the first meeting between the two teams this season.
Kourtney Brown continues to do it all for the Bulls.
In Buffalo’s 70-65 win over Ohio last Saturday, Brown had 15 points, seven rebounds and nine blocked
shots. The nine blocks are tied for ninth in the nation in a single game and pulls her within one of the
MAC record for career blocks.
Brown, a 6-feet-0 senior, leads the MAC in scoring (21.6 points), rebounds (11.9 rebounds) and blocked
shots (93).
"She is probably the most underrated player, superstar, that’s been in this league in a long, long
time," Miller said about Brown. "(It’s) because they haven’t been a regular season or a MAC
tournament champion; it sometimes overshadows what she has done for that program and the numbers that
she puts up.
"In the last check, I think she appeared in four national categories, in the top 10 in the
nation," Miller continued. "She is someone you have to scheme your whole gameplan to in order
to try to contain her."
As a team, Buffalo is leading the MAC averaging 5.82 blocked shots per game.
NEXT: The Falcons are the No. 2 seed for the MAC tournament and advance to the quarterfinals at Quicken
Loans Arena on March 9. BG will play the winner of the 7-10 game at noon.
