11th frame: Prep bowling fans show up in full force (03-01-11)

For most high school bowlers, the season is over. Some of the top teams in Northwest Ohio are located
right here in Wood County.
However, the most enthusiastic fans come from other areas of this corner of the state.
Attending the district championships this year, found the most excitement generated from other quality
teams. Both on Saturday for the girls tournament and on Monday for the boys, Interstate Lanes in
Rossford was filled to capacity, perhaps beyond.
The temporary bleachers were filled with standing room only behind also crowded.
While fans of every team applauded and rooted their bowlers on, there were several teams, notably
Coldwater and Napoleon, who had well-organized and boisterous fans. The excitement level was through the
roof at times. Ear plugs were an asset.
Five of the six county teams advanced to the district level, and the sixth narrowly missed. While the
district results were not as favorable as the bowlers, coaches and fans would have liked, each of the
local teams had a quality season.
Congratulations to all, and especially to Brandi Roller of Eastwood, who, as reported Monday, will
compete in the state finals Friday as an individual.
Inter-City: Three Bowling Green teams advanced into the top 10 recently at the Ohio Inter-City bowling
event being held at Cedar Lanes in Sandusky. Susan Enright totaled 2,137 to bowl her way into third
place in all-events with handicap at 2,132.
Tim Enright Electric and Bunyon’s Babes, tied for eighth at 3,302, followed by Bostdorff Greenhouse in
10th at 3,295.
