Former Falcon Briggs to appear at men’s game
Diyral Briggs, a former member of the Bowling Green State University football team and member of the
Super Bowl champion Green Bay Packers, will be honored Tuesdsay during the first media timeout of the
men’s basketball game against Kent State.
Briggs will be signing autographs from 6:30-7 p.m. on the west side of the second floor of Anderson
Arena.
BG swimmers fourth after first day of MAC meet
ATHENS – Bowling Green’s women’s swimming and diving team is fourth after the first day of the
Mid-American Conference Championships.
Miami leads the event with 72 points, while BG has 56 points.
The meet, held at Ohio University, is spread over four days. The first night featured two relay
competitions. BG relay teams finished fifth in both races, the 200 medley relay and the 800 freestyle
relay. The competition resumes today at 11 a.m.
NB boys tickets on sale
NORTH BALTIMORE – Tickets for the March 2 North Baltimore-Pandora-Gilboa boys sectional basketball game
at Ottawa-Glandorf will be on sale during school hours starting today in the high school office.
Student tickets are $4 and adults are $6. All tickets are $6 at the gate.
Owens women clinch OCCAC title
The Owens Community College women’s basketball team defeated Cuyahoga on Wednesday, 59-42. The Express’
win, coupled with Cincinnati State’s loss, clinched an outright Ohio Community College Athletic
Conference title for Owens.
Owens, ranked No. 11 in NJCAA Division II, is 26-4 overall and 11-1 in the OCCAC. The Express have set
the record for most wins in a season, breaking the mark set by last year’s and the 1996-97 team.
Leaders for the Express were: Jasmine Blanton, 17 points, eight rebounds, three steals; Karrah Windau, 10
points, nine rebounds, six assists; and Aja Hall, 11 points, 12 rebounds.
Owens men lose
The Owens’ men’s basketball team finished the regular season with a 74-56 home loss to Cuyahoga
Wednesday.
The Express are 10-20 overall and 3-9 in the OCCAC. It is the first time in the history of the program
the Express have lost 20 games in a season.
Leaders for Owens were: Cal Edwards, 11 points; Jerron Jamerson, 10 points; and Tommy Kralovic, Rossford
High School graduate, nine points.
