Prep Roundup: Decker, Gordon qualify for state swimming (02-21-11)

Eastwood junior Nathan Decker won the 500 freestyle in 4:50.74 at the Division II district swimming meet
Saturday at Bowling Green State University, advancing to the state meet this week in Canton.
He was also fourth in the 100 butterfly (54.64) to qualify for the state meet.
In the girls meet, Eastwood’s Tori Nabors was 13th in the 500 freestyle.
In Division I, Perrysburg’s Karissa Gordon earned one of the at-large berths and will compete in the 100
butterfly after finishing second in the district.

BGHS 11, Southview 0
In Sylvania, Bowling Green scored eight times in the first period on the way to a first-round win over
Southview in the district high school hockey playoffs at Tam-O-Shanter.
The Bobcats added three goals in the second period and the game was called after 30 minutes because of
the 10-goal mercy rule.
Justin McCarty scored three goals and Dylan Graves had two for the Bobcats, who held a 47-10 edge in
shots.
Jake DeWitt, Mason Mayberry Dakota Bell, Reid Mankowski, Spencer Calcamuggio and Rob Tyrrell had the
other BG goals. Nate Gay was in goal.
The Bobcats, 8-16-4 overall, play seventh-ranked St. John’s (21-10-2) in the quarterfinals Wednesday
night at 6.

Bowling Green Christian Academy defeated the Lima Heat Eagles, 44-31. Leading scorers for BG, now 13-9,
were: Gavin Winters, 22 points; and Steven Speck, 12 points.
