Bowling: Three county teams advance (02-21-11)

Three Wood County boys high school bowling teams advanced to the district tournament.
Bowling Green, Eastwood and Rossford will compete Friday at 5 p.m. at Interstate Lanes in Rossford.
Eastwood finished third at the Port Clinton sectional with a 3,872 pinfall. Bowling Green was third at
the Napoleon sectional at 3,795, while Rossford also advanced from that site with a sixth-place finish
at 3,623.
Tinora led at River City Bowl in Napoleon with 3,863, followed by Napoleon at 3,795. The Bobcats recorded
the highest six-game Baker total at 1,154, but it was not enough to catch the leaders after the three
regulation games. BG had games of 194, 213, and 193 as its top games. The Bulldogs had the second
highest Baker games at 1,134, including a sectional best 231, to claim the final slot from Napoleon.
Perrysburg finished seventh in Napoleon at 3,574.
Marion Harding won the Port Clinton sectional with the highest score from any site at 4,114. Fremont Ross
was second at 3,900. The top seven from Port Clinton advanced. Lakota was in 15th at 3,169.
Eastwood had the second-highest Baker total in Port Clinton with 1,191, including four of the six games
above 200: 205, 205, 203 and 213.
Derek Rucki led the Eagles with 597, finishing with games of 206 and 212. He was 10th overall
individually at Harbor Lanes in Port Clinton. John Przybylski rolled a 568 series, including high games
of 208 and 211.
Cory Zalesak had the fourth high series at Napoleon as he led the Bulldogs with games of 200 and 235 in
his 617 set.
Juan Ybanes was high for the Bobcats with 217 and 202 in his 599, which was seventh, individually.
Cameron Walter added a 566 for BG. Steve Cassity led the Yellow Jackets with a 197 high game in his 555
set. Rossford’s Austin Reynolds recorded a 219 game.
In addition to the teams, seven bowlers from Port Clinton and six from Napoleon, advanced to the district
level from non-advancing teams. Among them was Ron Norris of Lakota with 203, 551.
No local individuals advanced from Napoleon.
Other teams which will be competing in the district tournament are Patrick Henry, Willard, Huron, Port
Clinton, Clyde, Wapakoneta, Ottawa-Glandorf, Coldwater, St. Henry and Van Wert.
There were five teams advancing from the third sectional, which was held in Minster. Only the top two
from Friday’s event will advance to the state championship the following weekend.
Both Eastwood and Bowling Green’s girls teams will compete in the district event, also at Interstate
Lanes on Saturday at 1 p.m.
