Perrysburg 5th, BG 9th at swimming districts (2-18-11)

Perrysburg’s girls were fifth with 215 points and Bowling Green was ninth with 131 at the Division I
district swimming meet Friday at Bowling Green’s Student Recreation Center. Notre Dame won the meet with
345 1/2 points.
The top individual and relay team in each swimming event for the boys and girls advance to the state meet
next week at Branin Natatorium in Canton. Also, 11 at-large swimming qualifiers will be selected on the
basis of times recorded in all district tournaments statewide.
In the girls meet, Perrysburg’s Karissa Gordon was second in the 100 butterfly (57.45) and Kelsey Mefferd
was second in the 500 freestyle (5:16.41).
Bowling Green’s Ileana Ille was second in the 100 freestyle (43.59).
In the boys meet, Bowling Green was ninth with 80 points and Perrysburg was 11th with 37. St. Francis won
the meet with 838 points.
Peter Burroughs was BG’s top finisher, taking fourth in the 100 breast stroke (1:00.07) and in the 200
individual medley (1:59.76).
Perrysburg’s best result was a 10th in the 400 freestyle relay. Bryce Fowler, Alex Kloster, Mark
Leimkuehler and Dallas Stiles.
