Prep Roundup: Big second quarter sparks BG girls (02-14-11)

Bowling Green’s girls exploded for 29 points in the second quarter on the way to its 71-54 Northern Lakes
League win over Springfield Saturday.
In other NLL girls games, it was: Perrysburg 59, Northview 53; Anthony Wayne 31, Rossford 29; and
Southview 50, Maumee 33.
In a Toledo Area Athletic Conference girls game, Northwood defeated Maumee Valley, 41-24
In a non-league girls game, it was: Hopewell-Loudon 51, Elmwood 42.
In boys non-league games, it was: Springfield 72, Eastwood 61; and Wauseon 57, Elmwood 46.
GIRLS
BGHS 71, Springfield 54
Hayley Williford scored 25 points while Jenna Stoner had 12 points and 13 rebounds and Marissa Milligan
added 12 points for the Bobcats.
In the big second quarter, the Bobcats were able to use their press while forced eight turnovers and led
to several easy baskets. BG also made 26 free throws in the game.
BG is 11-6 overall and 5-6 in the NLL while Springfield is 3-13, 1-9.
Anthony Wayne 31,
Rossford 29
In Whitehouse, Rossford led 11-0 after the first quarter, but Anthony Wayne rallied for the NLL win.
The Generals, 11-5 overall and 7-3 in the NLL, hit two 3-pointers later in the fourth quarter to help
secure the win. Emma Rickets scored 12 points for AW.
Kasey Geraghty led Rossford, 7-10, 3-8, with 11 points.
Southview 50, Maumee 33
In Sylvania, Lexi Lopez scored 20 points to pace Southview past Maumee.
Southview is 9-6 overall and 6-5 in the NLL. Maumee is 3-14, 1-10.
Hopewell-Loudon 51,
Elmwood 42
In Jerry City, Hopewell-Loudon out-scored Elmwood, 17-9 in the fourth quarter to post the non-league win.

Danielle Rohrbach led Hopewell, now 8-11 overall, with 16 points and Lauren Trumpler scored 15.
Regan Briggs scored 13 points for Elmwood, 3-15 overall.
Northwood 41,
Maumee Valley 24
In Northwood, the Rangers pulled away for the TAAC win. Northwood is 8-10 overall and 7-4 in the TAAC
while Maumee Valley is 5-12, 2-9.
Sammie Brisbin scored 11 points for Northwood while Kelly Sawmiller and Becca Bisbee each added nine.
BOYS
Springfield 72, Eastwood 61
In Luckey, Springfield scored at least 15 points in every quarter on the way to the non-league win.
Chester McFadden led the Blue Devils, now 12-6 overall, with 20 points.
Jake Faykosh scored 17 points for Eastwood, 6-10 overall, Justin Faykosh added 14 and Cody Jennings
finished with 12
Wauseon 57, Elmwood 46
In Jerry City, Wauseon out-scored Elmwood, 57-46 in the fourth quarter and had three players finish in
double figures.
TJ Waldock scored 16 points and had nine rebounds for four assists while Kevin Hammer added 11 points for
Elmwood, now 12-4 overall.
