Prep Roundup: Elmwood boys clinch tie for SLL title (2-10-11)

Elmwood’s boys didn’t even play Thursday night, but they still clinched a tie for the Suburban Lakes
League championship.
Lake’s 60-55 win over Woodmore gave Elmwood a three-game lead in the SLL with just three games remaining.

Elmwood, the preseason favorite to win the SLL, is 8-1 in the league. Eastwood, Lake and Woodmore are
tied for second at 5-4.
Eastwood was a 47-44 winner over Gibsonburg and Otsego was a 55-47 winner over Genoa.
Also Thursday, Northwood’s girls improved to 6-4 in the Toledo Area Athletic Conference with a 42-38 win
over Cardinal Stritch.
In girls Northern Lakes League makeup games, it was: Bowling Green 50, Maumee 45; and Southview 45,
Rossford 36.
In Midland Athletic League girls games, it was: Mohawk 55, North Baltimore 46; and Tiffin Calvert 57,
Lakota 42.
BOYS
Lake 60, Woodmore 55
In Elmore, Kurt McKee made six 3-point field goals en route to a game-high 23 points as Lake moved to 9-7
overall.
Josh Tantari added 13 points for Lake, which built a 46-37 lead over the first three quarters.
Woodmore (8-7) had three players in double figures — Bryan Kuhlman, 17; Donny Bowen, 15; and Grant
Weirich, 10.
Eastwood 47, Gibsonburg 44
In Gibsonburg, Forest Ickes had 13 points and eight rebounds to lead Eastwood (6-9, 5-4).
The Eagles held Gibsonburg to four points in the third quarter, turning a 23-21 halftime deficit into a
31-27 lead.
Gage Beaber had 16 poins and Logan Jones added 11 for Gibsonburg (6-8, 3-5). The Golden Bears were just
10-of-23 from the free-throw line.
Otsego 55, Genoa 47
In Genoa, A.C. Limes scored 18 points and Tommy Rodgers added 14 as Otsego rallied from a 35-32 deficit
in the fourth quarter.
Otsego was 14-of-20 from the free-throw line to Genoa’s 6-of-12.
Otsego, which scored 41 points in the second half, is 5-11, 4-5.
Tyler Pickard had 10 points and 10 rebounds for Genoa (6-9, 1-8).
GIRLS
Northwood 42,
Cardinal Stritch 38
In Northwood, Sandy Koch scored 11 points for the Rangers (7-10 overall).
Northwood took a 10-6 lead after one quarter and held Stritch (4-14, 3-8) off after that.
BGHS 50, Maumee 45,
In Maumee, Alyssa Kopp, Jenna Stoner and Marissa Milligan combined for 39 points to lead BG.
The Bobcats built a 42-31 lead over the first three quarters to improve to 10-6, 4-6.
Kopp scored 16 points, Stoner had 13 points and 10 rebounds, and Milligan added 10 points and 10
rebounds. BG held a 33-20 rebounding edge.
Maumee is 3-13, 1-9.
Southview 45, Rossford 36
In Rossford, Lexi Lopez scored 21 points and Southview pulled away in the second half after leading 15-14
at the break.
The Cougars were 17-of-28 from the free-throw line, while Rossford was 9-of-12.
Tara Kanary had 10 points for Rossford (7-9, 3-7). Southview is 8-6, 5-5.
Mohawk 55, NB 46
In North Baltimore, Julie Adelsperger scored 15 points, Sarah Runion added 11, and Lynsey Trusty both had
10 as Mohawk remained undefeated in the MAL.
The Mohawks (13-4, 9-0) pulled away in the fourth quarter after leading 42-39 through three periods.
Jessica Frost led NB (11-7, 4-5) with 21 points, while Leona Euler added 10 points and 12 rebounds, and
Ricci Emahiser had nine points and 10 rebounds.
Tiffin Calvert 57, Lakota 42
In Tiffin, Kelsey Sikora had 17 points as Calvert out-scored Lakota in every quarter.
Also for the Senecas (14-5, 6-4), Erin Gruss added 13 points and Brittany Perry had 10.
Dani Chaffee and Kaela Wiseman both had 11 points for Lakota (4-12, 1-8).
