Woodville man killed in crash

WOODVILLE – The Fremont Post of the Ohio State Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash which
occurred early Tuesday in Sandusky County.
According to the patrol, at 3:15 a.m. Mark Wiechman was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche pickup truck
westbound on U.S. 20 near Lime Road at a high rate of speed when he drove left of center and struck,
head-on, a 2005 International 9900 tractor trailer driven by William Britton, 48, Belleville, W.Va.
Both vehicles came to rest in the eastbound lanes of Route 20.
Weichman, 27, of Woodville, was pronounced dead at the scene and was transported by Marsh Funeral Home.
Britton reportedly received minor injuries and was not transported from the scene.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. According to the patrol, alcohol has not been ruled out as a factor
in the accident, and an investigation is pending.
