Lake girls remain fourth
COLUMBUS – Lake’s girls basketball team remains fourth in the state-wide Division III poll this week.
The Flyers, 17-0, have 138 points this week, down from 152 the previous week. The poll is on page 13.
BG women get two votes
Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team received two votes and was 36th in this week’s USA Today/ESPN Top
25 poll.
The Falcons had four points and were 36th last week. The poll is on page 13.
BGSU softball picked fourth
CLEVELAND – The Bowling Green State University softball team was picked to finish fourth in the
Mid-American Conference East in the 2011 preseason coaches poll.
BG was 9-14 in conference games and finished in a tie for fourth in the East last season.
Miami was picked to win the MAC East and the MAC tournament while Ball State was picked to win the MAC
West.
The complete poll was: East, 1) Miami (5), 2) Ohio (40), 3) Kent State (3), 4) Bowling Green; 5) Buffalo;
6) Akron; and West, 1) Ball State (7), 2) Central Michigan (4); 3) Northern Illinois (1); 4) Western
Michigan; 5) Eastern Michigan; 6) Toledo; and MAC tournament winner: Miami (7); Ball State (3); Ohio
(1); Kent State (1).
Prep games rescheduled
Several basketball games have been rescheduled after being postponed this past Saturday.
The following girls games were rescheduled: Bowling Green at Maumee, rescheduled for Thursday; Perrysburg
at Anthony Wayne, rescheduled for Monday; Rossford at Springfield, rescheduled for Feb. 17; and
Northwood at Lakota, rescheduled for Monday.
The Lake at Fostoria St. Wendelin boys game has been rescheduled for Feb. 21.
BGHS softball to host dinner
The Bowling Green High School softball team is hosting a spaghetti dinner fundraiser Feb. 18 from 4-7
p.m. in the high school cafeteria.
Dinner is being provided by Pagliai’s and includes spaghetti, bread sticks, salad, drink, and dessert.
Eat-in or carryout will be available.
Tickets are $10 and can be purchased from any player, or by calling (419) 308-3140 or (419) 601-0653. A
limited number of tickets will be available at the door.
Owens men’s game scheduled
The Owens Community College men’s basketball home game against the Tiffin University junior varsity,
postponed on Jan. 31, has been rescheduled for Monday at 7 p.m.
