After 26 years as a stylist at Hairways salon in Bowling Green’s Greenwood Centre on East Wooster, Bev
Foster now has a new title – that of owner.
"I took over in July," the Wayne native and BG resident noted.
"I managed a salon chain for years. Then I decided to work at Hairways doing booth rental, which I
have enjoyed" for the last quarter century.
"The opportunity came up to buy the business, and I went for it."
"The location’s good" and both parking and accessibility are ideal, with no steps required to
get into the building.
What’s more, Greenwood Centre just got a full exterior makeover.
"It was excellent timing for us. And I’ve been doing some updating inside," Foster said. She
bought new styling chairs, tore down dividers, and got a new sign. She plans to continue the remodel
with some other touches.
Continuity of both staff and customers is a prime advantage at Hairways, according to Foster.
"We’ve got nine gals in the shop, with 182 years of experience between all of us." Included in
that is former owner Judy Kendall, who will be staying on as a stylist until July, when she plans to
retire.
In Foster’s own case, "I have dedicated, loyal customers I have been doing for years – some for 35
years," since the Elmwood-Penta graduate completed her cosmetology training.
"They become someone special and know most of the people in here on a personal basis."
Hairways will continue to operate Monday through Saturday, and is also open six evenings a week.
All salon services are available for women, men and children – including cuts, color, permanents,
highlights, manicures and facial wax.
