Darlene Amos

Darlene Therese (Michaelis) Amos, 58, of Bowling Green, Ohio, died Friday evening, February 4, 2011 at
Bridge Hospice in Bowling Green.
She was born on May 23, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio to Wayne W. and Mary (Schwind) Michaelis. She married
Michael Amos on September 5, 1969 and he survives.
In her youth, Darlene was active in Wood County 4-H and later was an advisor of Tontogany Teens and
Petites and the Wood Lane Honey Bees. She loved vacationing in Florida, camping, skiing, and white water
rafting with her family. She also enjoyed attending her children and grandchildren’s sporting events.
Attending fairs, watching comedies, and listening to books on tape also gave her joy.
Later in life, Darlene attended Owens Community College and obtained an associate’s degree in Nursing.
She worked in IMC at St. Luke’s Hospital in Maumee until 1996 when she was diagnosed with Multiple
Sclerosis.
Darlene is survived by her husband of 41 years, Michael Amos; her mother, Mary Michaelis, Bowling Green;
daughters, Christina (James) McGarvey, Glen Rock, PA, Kelly Partin, Bowling Green, and son, Ryan
(Shannon), Canal Winchester; grandchildren Reed and Hayden McGarvey, Jacob and Aaron Partin and Connor
Amos; sisters, Elizabeth (Robert) Anderson, Oregon, OH, Diane (Robert) Torrey, Torrey, UT, Brenda
Patterson, Spencerport, NY, Kim (Todd) Zielinski, Ocala, FL; brothers, Wayne P. (Kaye) Michaelis,
Bowling Green, Garry (Estella) Michaelis, Scottsdale, AZ and
Douglas (Linda) Michaelis, Bowling Green; sisters-in-law, Marcia (Richard) Gibson and Cindy (Hank) Free,
Ft. Myers, FL and brother-in-law Douglas (Sue) Amos, Bowling Green.
Visitation services will be held on Tuesday, February 8, from 2 to 8 p.m. at the Peinert Funeral Home,
Tontogany, OH. There will be a funeral mass at St. Aloysius Church, Bowling Green at 11 a.m. on
Wednesday, February 9. Fr. Mark Davis will officiate. Burial will be at Union Hill Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Bridge Hospice of Bowling Green or the Wood County 4-H
Committee.
