Cleon J. Murphy, age 91, of Risingsun, Ohio, passed away on Tuesday (February 1, 2011) at Citrus Memorial
Hospital in Inverness, Florida.
He was born on March 16, 1919 in Wayne, Ohio to the late Francis "Kirkwood" and Edyth K.
(Lombard) Murphy.
He married Margaret L. Hill on April 13, 1941 at the United Brethren Church in Fostoria, Ohio.
Margaret passed away on February 7, 2009.
Surviving is a daughter, Janet K. (Jim) Schmitz of Risingsun, Ohio; grandchildren, Dennie (Michele)
Schmitz of Wayne, Ohio, Lisa Schreiner of Risingsun, Ohio; great-grandchildren, Jessica Miller of
Fostoria, Ohio, Nicole Miller of Helena, Ohio, Chelsie Schmitz of Wayne, Ohio, Emily Schmitz of Wayne,
Ohio, Jacob Schreiner of Risingsun, Ohio; great-great-grandchildren, Ian Martinez of Fostoria, Ohio,
Kelsey Martinez of Fostoria, Ohio and a special friend Marilyn Aurand of Wayne, Ohio.
He was preceded in death by a brother, William "Kirkwood" Murphy and a sister, Norma K,
Gorrill-Lang.
Cleon retired from Farming and Autolite in Fostoria, Ohio.
He was a 1937 graduate of Montgomery Township School in Wayne, Ohio.
He was a member of the West Congregational Church and the Wayne Senior Center.
He enjoyed fishing in Ohio and Florida, Scroll Sawing (Cleon would cut and assemble the projects and
Margaret would finish the pieces by sanding and staining) which were exhibited at the Wood County Fair,
exhibiting his restored antique Ford Tractors at the Wood County Fair and Prairie Depot Days in Wayne,
but his real passion was traveling around the country and his Florida home he has gone to each winter
for the past 33 years.
Friends will be received from 1-2 PM Tuesday (February8, 2011) at Barndt Funeral Home in Wayne, Ohio with
a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 2:00 PM.
Burial will be in Graham Cemetery near Wayne.
