Chiricosta earns MAC honor
CLEVELAND – Bowling Green’s Christine Chiricosta has been named the Mid-American Conference tennis player
of the week. Chiricosta earns the honor for the first time this season and the third time in her Falcon
career.
A senior, Chiricosta helped the Falcons to three 7-0 victories in as many days over the weekend, in the
process becoming the winningest player in program history.
Chiricosta had an overall record of 5-1 on the weekend, going 3-0 at the top singles flight and 2-1 at
the number-one doubles flight.
She now has a total of 154 victories at BGSU, surpassing the old record of 153 set by Deidee Bissinger
(1997-2000). Chiricosta currently ranks second in school history in doubles wins, and is fourth in
singles victories at BGSU.
Rock hired at Kent State
KENT – Brian Rock, a Bowling Green High School and BGSU graduate, has been hired at Kent State to be the
offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach.
Rock joins the Golden Flashes after having spent the last six years as the wide receivers coach at
Purdue. Rock came to the Boilermakers from Western Michigan, where he was an assistant from 1992-2005,
including five seasons as the offensive coordinator.
Prior to his tenure with the Broncos, Rock was defensive coordinator at Saint Joseph’s College in
Rensselaer, Ind., from 1987-1991. He also coached the defensive backs and special teams. Rock was a
graduate assistant at Bowling Green in 1985 and 1986 and is a two-time graduate of the school, earning
both his bachelor’s (1985) and master’s (1986).
