BG women in unfamiliar position (02-01-11)

Bowling Green finds itself in an unfamiliar position in the Mid-American Conference standings.
The Falcon women, having lost consecutive MAC games for the first time in three years, look to bounce
back tonight at Northern Illinois. Tip-off is scheduled for 8.
BG (17-4 overall, 5-3 MAC) lost to Toledo last Tuesday and Western Michigan on Saturday, the first time
the Falcons have lost consecutive MAC games since losing three straight Jan. 22-30, 2008. BG responded
with nine straight MAC wins and a regular-season conference title that season.
The Falcons are one game behind MAC East leader Kent State (6-2).
NIU: Northern Illinois (9-12, 3-5) has won three of its last four games, with the only loss in that span
coming in overtime to Kent State last Wednesday.
Senior guard Marke Freeman (5-foot-5) leads the team in scoring at 16.6 points per game. Freeman has hit
a team-leading 37 three-point field goals this season, and also averages 6.2 rebounds, 2.3 assists and a
team-best 2.7 steals per game.
The Huskies are led by first-year coach Kathi Bennett.
BG leads the all-time series with NIU, 18-12, and has won eight straight against the Huskies.
PROCHASKA: After being held to a season-low four points in the Falcons’ loss to Western Michigan, senior
Lauren Prochaska remains second on the BG all-time scoring list. The four points were the second-lowest
total of Prochaska’s BG career.
Prochaska is 26 points shy of matching the record held by Jackie Montycka of 2,122 points.
NEXT: BG returns to Anderson Arena this Saturday to host Ball State as the first game of a men’s and
women’s doubleheader beginning at 2 p.m.
