BG men seek another win (02-01-11)

Tied for the best record in the Mid-American Conference, Bowling Green’s men look to continue their
momentum at Northern Illinois on Wednesday.
The Falcons, Buffalo and Kent State are each 5-2 in the MAC East, while Ball State is 5-2 in in the MAC
West.
BG (10-11 overall) is coming off a 68-63 win at home over Eastern Michigan on Saturday, as the Falcon
bench combined for 42 points in the victory.
HUSKIES: NIU comes into the game 7-12 overall and 3-4 in the MAC.
The Huskies have lost three of four games, most recently a 63-52 loss at Buffalo on Saturday.
SILAS: NIU senior guard Xavier Silas (6-foot-5) leads the MAC and is second in the nation in scoring at
24.2 points per game.
Silas was named the MAC West player of the week for the fifth time this season after averaging 29.5
points and 6.5 rebounds in games against Akron and Buffalo last week, including a 39-point performance
in the Huskies’ 83-74 win over Akron.
Silas is one of just two players in the country, along with Brigham Young’s Jimmer Fredette, to have
multiple games of 39-or-more points scored. On Dec. 14, Silas scored a career-high 40 points in a
victory over Illinois-Chicago.
MADLOCK: BG coach Louis Orr’s first recruit to sign at BG, Cameron Madlock, is now a member of NIU’s
team.
Madlock, a 6-9 junior forward from Milwaukee, left BG for Lee Community College in Texas before joining
the Huskies before this season. Madlock appeared in 16 games as a Falcon during the 2007-08 season.
This season Madlock has played in 15 games, averaging 9.1 minutes and scoring a total of 15 points.
SCOREBOARD: The scoreboard at Anderson Arena is fixed after one of a series of electrical cards shorted
out during the men’s game against Eastern Michigan on Saturday.
The scoreboard needed to be lowered to be fixed, so rather than stopping play for 30 minutes or more the
game continued without the use of the main scoreboard above the center of the court.
BRACKET BUSTER: BG will play at Youngstown State on Feb. 19 as part of the ESPN BracketBuster series.
It marks the second time the two programs have been paired together for the event as the Falcons defeated
the Penguins 76-64 on Feb. 21, 2004.
NEXT: BG returns to Anderson Arena on Saturday to face Western Michigan at 5 p.m.
