Cubberlys wrestling at Central
Eric Cubberly, from Eastwood High School, is a junior on the Central Michigan wrestling team.
Cubberly won five straight matches to claim the 165-pound title at the Simonson Open at Ashland
University on Jan. 22. His record is 19-11.
The Chippewas are ranked No. 11 in Division I.
Ryan Cubberly, from Eastwood High School, is a senior on the Central Michigan wrestling team.
Cubberly moved up two weight classes to 165 in the Chippewas’ win over Purdue. He also recorded a victory
in CMU’s victory over Michigan State. His record is 4-7.
The Chippewas are ranked No. 11 in Division I.
Jordan Fortney, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the West Liberty (W. Va.) men’s basketball
team.
Fortney leads the Hilltoppers, who are 16-0 and ranked No. 1 in NCAA Division II, at 17.1 points per
game.
He’s also averaging 3.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game.
Julia Metzger, from Perrysburg High School, is a sophomore on the University of Oregon women’s tennis
team.
Metzger won both of her matches at No. 2 singles in straight sets in the Ducks’ season-opening wins over
Portland and Portland State Jan. 21-22.
Mitchell Auchmuty, from Elmwood High School, is a sophomore thrower on the Capital University men’s track
and field team.
Auchmuty set a Capital record with his throw of 13.04 meters in the weight throw, good for third place at
the Rev. Mike Hout Invitational earlier this month. He was also fourth in the shot put with a throw of
11.51 meters.
Justin Welch, from Eastwood High School, is a freshman on the University of Georgia track and field team.

Welch finished second in the weight throw during his first meet, reaching a distance of 64-7 1/4 with a
35-pound implement.
Curtis Smithey, from Elmwood High School, is a junior on the University of Findlay men’s track and field
team.
Smithey was part of the Oilers’ first-place relay teams in the 800 and 1,600 relays at the Joe Banks
Invitational at Ohio Northern on Jan. 14.
The Oilers are ranked No. 9 in the NCAA Division II poll.
Jordan Breitigam, from Bowling Green High School, is a freshman on the Ohio Northern men’s swimming and a
diving team.
Breitigam was named the Ohio Athletic Conference’s swimmer of the Week (Jan. 10-16), taking first in the
100-butterfly ina time of 52.69 to help the Polar Bears defeat Oberlin, 155-87.
Against Mount Union, Breitigam won the 200-butterfly in a time of 2:04.2 and was a member of the
first-place 400-medley relay team that took first in ONU’s 186-56 win over Mount Union.
Rachael Clay, from Rossford High School, is a junior on the Miami University track and field team.
Clay was part of the RedHawks’ fourth-place 1,600 relay team at the All-Ohio Championships in Kent. The
team finished in season-best time of 3:56.4.
Steve Culbertson, from Bowling Green High School, is a member of the Bowling Green State University club
hockey team.In 17 games played Culbertson has 10 goals and nine assists.
Jeremy Cross, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior goalkeeper on the Adrian College men’s hockey
team.
In two games played, Cross has stopped all 10 shots he’s faced.
Ashton Dennen, from Otsego High School, is a sophomore on the Ohio Northern women’s cross country team.

Jason Faykosh, from Eastwood High School, is a member of the Ohio Northern basketball team.
In eight games Faykosh is averaging 1.6 points per game.
Tommy Kralovic, from Rossford High School, is a sophomore on the Owens Community College men’s basketball
team.
Liz Hammer, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore on the Ursuline College women’s basketball
team.
In seven games, Hammer is averaging 1.1 points per game.
Alex Hernandez, from Eastwood High School, is a junior on the Carnegie Mellon University men’s track and
field team.
David Hieber, from Perrysburg High School, is a sophomore on the Wittenberg men’s basketball team.
In six games Hieber is averaging 3.5 points per and 1.5 rebounds per game.
Jennifer Hobson, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore on the Wilmington College tennis team.

Sam Jaffee, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior on the Olivet College men’s swimming and diving
team.
Conner Kilpatrick, from Bowling Green High School, is a junior with the Marietta College men’s basketball
team.
In 17 games Kilpatrick is averaging 5.2 points and 4.8 rebounds per game.
Zack Leahy, from Rossford High School, is a freshman on the University of Toledo men’s basketball team.

In 18 games, six starts, Leahy is averaging 5.1 points and 1.2 rebounds per game.
Elizabeth Lemon, a Bowling Green resident, is a member of the University of Toledo cross country team.

Spencer Munger, from Bowling Green High School, is a junior on the Defiance College football team.
Munger was a fall honoree for the Tom Bohlsen Academic All-HCAC Team.
In order to be named an Academic All-HCAC selection, a student-athlete must have completed one full
academic year, be enrolled full-time at their institution, be a varsity athlete and possess a minimum
cumulative grade-point average of 3.5 at the end of the semester preceding the conclusion of the fall
season.
Jordan Nichols, from Rossford High School, is a junior on the Marietta men’s basketball team.
Lorin Pierson, from Bowling Green High School, is a sophomore on the University of Maryland men’s swim
team.
Katie Reiser, from Elmwood High School, is a freshman sprinter on Kent State University track and field
team.
Reiser finished second in the 60 (7.81) and third in the 200 (26.06) in the Golden Flashes’ loss to Akron
on Jan. 14.
Cody Seifert, from Eastwood High School, is a freshman sprinter on the Kent State University track and
field team.
Jake Smith, from Perrysburg High School, is a sophomore with the Ashland University men’s basketball
team.
Jacob Smith, from Lakota High School, is a sophomore hurdler for the Ashland University men’s track and
field team.
Tyler Swartz, from Perrysburg High School, is a sophomore distance runner on the University of Findlay
men’s track and field team.
Christy Titus, from Bowling Green High School, is a senior distance runner on the Boston College women’s
indoor track and field team.
Cami Wasserman, is a redshirt freshman on the Kent State track and field team.
Matt White, from Perrysburg High School, is a member of the BGSU club hockey team.
In 22 games, White leads the team with 24 goals to go along with 10 assists.
