BG women strive to bounce back from loss to Toledo (01-28-11)

For the second time in less than two weeks, Bowling Green’s women’s basketball team is looking to bounce
back from a one-point loss.
The Falcons, 17-3 overall and 5-2 in the Mid-American Conference, dropped a 66-65 decision to Toledo
Wednesday night. On Jan. 15, the Falcons lost 44-43 at Kent State.
BG goes on the road Saturday, playing at Western Michigan with tipoff at 2 p.m.
Curt Miller, in his 10th year at BG, wonders if his team will have a good practice session before the WMU
game.
"This team is 17-3 this year. In the last five years, we are one of top five winningest programs in
the country and we haven’t had a good practice in three weeks," Miller said after the UT loss.
"I trust that this team is mature enough to continue to step up and play good basketball at game
time.
"I’m frustrated that we’re not a better practice team," Miller added.
Lauren Prochaska needs 31 points to pass Jackie Motycka (1985-89) as BG’s all-time leading scorer.
Motycka scored 2,122 during her stellar career. Motycka is also fifth on the MAC career list while
Prochaska is sixth.
SCOUTING WMU: Western Michigan seniors Brenna Banktson and Ebony Cleary became the 22nd and 23rd member
of WMU’s 1,000 point club Wednesday night. The two accomplished the feat with back-to-back points, just
over a minute apart in a 77-66 loss to Akron.
The Broncos are 5-15 overall and 1-6 in the MAC.
Taylor Manley, a 5-foot-6 senior, is averaging 13.8 ppg and Cleary, a 6-1 senior, is averaging 12.6
points and 7.3 rebounds per game.
WMU is averaging 58.8 points a game while allowing 64.2.
Saturday’s game is part of the Pack the House Challenge. Pack the House Challenge is a national
competition where NCAA member schools compete with their conference rivals to set attendance records and
grow the sport of women’s basketball. The goal of this challenge is to reach 2,000-plus fans and cheer
on the Broncos to victory.
