Owens women win
PIQUA – The No. 19-ranked Owens Community College women defeated Edison State, 88-58, Wednesday behind
six double-figure scorers and Karrah Windau’s second near triple-double of the season.
Windau finished with eight points, 11 rebounds, nine assists and two steals.
Jasmine Blanton and Aja Hall each had 15 points to lead the Express. Hall added 10 rebounds, while
Blanton contributed four rebounds, four assists and six steals.
Saige Meyer added a season-high 13 points while Megan Miller, Brittany Morris and Nasumbi Beard finished
with 10 points each. Morris added a team high seven steals.
Owens is 19-4 overall and 4-1 in the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference.
Owens men lose
PIQUA – In a game that featured 16 ties and 27 lead changes, Edison State topped the Owens Community
College men, 77-70, Wednesday.
With the game tied at 70, Owens had one turnover and five missed shots in the final 1:03.
Jerron Jamerson led the Express in scoring with 17 points, while adding nine rebounds and two assists.
James Wimberly added a double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds. Cal Edwards chipped in with 14
points and seven rebounds, while Kendall Frank had 10 points.
Owens is 7-15 overall and 1-4 in the OCCAC.
Falcon swimmers win
The Bowling Green State University swimming and diving team defeated Cleveland State on Wednesday,
170-124 at Cooper Pool. The Falcons won nine of 14 events.
Alexis Kain and Vicky Yu led BG, taking first in two events each. Kain was first in the 100 breast stroke
(1:04.48) and 200 breast stroke (2:21.24), while Yu was first in the 200 medley (2:10.78) and
200-butterfly (2:05.14).
Other winners for BG were: Jennifer Beatty, 1000-freestyle, 10:37.51; Emily Bennet, 100-freestyle, 52.60;
and Alexa Harris, 200 backstroke, 2:06.57.
Also taking first were BG’s 200 medley relay team of Bennet, Kain, Yu, and Brittany Szekely (1:47.86);
and the 200 freestyle team of Bennet, Szekely, Carrie Enright and Sarah Reinink (1:36.62).
