Bernadine A. Houck

Bernadine A. Houck, 79, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, January 21, 2011 at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.

On December 16, 1931 in Risingsun, she was born to Andrew Jackson and Nellie (Johnson) Roe. She married
William G. Houck on June 30, 1950 in St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Toledo.
Survivors include a daughter, Nelene (Lanny) Keckler, sons, Edward Andrew (Carloyn) Houck and William
George (Barbara) Houck Jr., all of Tiffin; four grandchildren, Bethany and Brock Keckler, Kelly (Carl
Prenzlin) Marker and Brad (Amanda Shulaw) Marker, six great-grandchildren, Olivia Roth, Brooke and
Brittain Marker, Braden Prenzlin, Baylee Prenzlin, Aydin Marker; sisters-in-law, Virginia Houck Jacob
and Dorothy Swartzmiller Roe, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 25 years, William, in 1975; three infant sons,
Robert, David, and James; brothers, Andy and Charlie Roe; and a sister, Thelma Pauline Quaintance.
Bernadine attended the First Church of the Nazarene and graduated Valedictorian in 1949 from Bowling
Green High School. She enjoyed reading, cooking, baking Pumpkin pies, playing cards, especially Crazy
Rummy, and collected lamps. Bernadine always put her family and others first, helping when she could.
She loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Her funeral service will be Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 1:30 p.m. at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral
Home & Crematory, 236 S. Washington St., Tiffin (419-447-2424). Burial will be private in
Pleasant Union Cemetery.
Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday at the funeral home from 12 noon until the time of service
at 1:30 p.m.
Memorial contributions may be made to Flat Rock Community Services, Community Hospice Care, Gideon’s
International, or Seneca County Dog Warden’s Office.
