Charles R. Jones

Charles (Charlie) R. Jones, 94, most recently of Bowling Green, and formerly of Warren, OH, left this
earth the same way he lived his life, quietly and peacefully, on January 18th, 2011 at Briar Hill Health
Campus, North Baltimore, OH.
He was born April 25th, 1916 in Wellsburg, West Virginia to Lillian Belle and Avery C Jones. He had one
brother, Gayle, who preceded him in death
Charlie honorably served his country three different times: from 1938-1939 and 1942-1945 in the United
States Navy, and again in 1947-1951 in the United States Air Force as a flight navigator where his
mission was to scout for German submarines.
Surviving are two children from his first marriage to June Morris: Sherry (Ernie) O’Leary and Lawrence
(Michelle) Jones in Huntington Beach, CA., 7 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. He later married
Roberta Scriven and from that union, leaves behind two step-daughters, Sherida (Glenn) Risner of
Rudolph, Oh and Beth (Jack) Harkins of Niles, OH, two sons, Jeffrey Jones of Niles, OH and Mark Jones of
Grand Junction, CO, 5 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren and one
grandchild proceeded him in death. He will also be missed by two special friends, Myrtle Chambers and
Mary Bradford.
Charlie decided many years ago to donate his body so that others may learn, and did so to The University
of Toledo Medical Center. There will be no services.
Any memorials can be made in his name to the Wood County Senior Center, 305 N. Main St., Bowling Green,
OH.
