Arthur Phillips Jr.

Arthur L. Phillips, Jr., 93, formerly of Bowling Green, Ohio, Lorain and Columbus, passed away Sunday,
January 16, 2011 at the Medina Hospice Inn.
He was born August 22, 1917 in Carey, Ohio to Arthur Sr. and Mary (Feck) Phillips.
He was a U.S. Army veteran from WW II and recently was taken on an Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to
visit the WW II Memorial.
In his early years he worked as a farmer, a U.S. Postal clerk and an auto salesman. He was part owner and
manager of a Lincoln Mercury dealership in Bowling Green for a number of years. During that time, he
served several terms on the Bowling Green City Council. He began his career with the Ohio Bureau of
Employment Service in 1964 and retired in March 1983 after serving as manager in Bowling Green, Lorain
and Columbus.
In his retirement, he enjoyed woodworking and being a general handyman. He and his wife Bea enjoyed
traveling the country with their Airstream Club friends. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan following
both basketball and football teams. He enjoyed reading and doing volunteer work. Over the past nine
years, he volunteered as cashier at the First Community Trading Post in Columbus until recently, resided
at the First Community Village in Columbus were he leaves behind many friends.
He is survived by his son, Roger Phillips of Bowling Green, daughter, Sandy Korn (Roy) of Westfield
Center and daughter Charlene Hughes (Jim) of Fayetteville, New York. Also surviving are grandchildren Al
Korn (Laurie), Jon Korn (fiancée Kim), Jennifer Hughes and Barbara Napoli (John), great-grandchildren,
Jacob, Olivia and Savannah Korn and Anya, Keira and James Napoli, sister Virginia Hanley, sister-in-law
Martha Phillips, dear longtime friend Arlene Keethler, five step-children, 13 step-grandchildren, 2
step-great-grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, three sisters, his wives Genevieve, Gloria and
Bea and one step-child.
Services will be held at the Waite & Son Funeral Home, Medina Chapel, 765 N. Court St., Saturday,
January 22 at 2 p.m. Family will receive friends at the funeral home Saturday from 12 Noon to 2 p.m.
Burial will be at a later date in Spring Grove Cemetery in Carey, OH.
