Lila Barbara Frederickson

Lila Barbara Frederickson, 87, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away Thursday, January 13th, 2011 at Hospice
of Northwest Ohio (Perrysburg).
She was the only child of Orson F. and Velma (Ragsdale) Weiser. She was born in Bellingham, Washington on
October 10th, 1923. Lila graduated from Lincoln High School in Seattle, Washington, where she was in a
quartet called the Stardusters. She attended the University of Washington, where she was crowned Snow
Queen her sophomore year.
Lila lived a full life with her husband Paul, and due to her husband’s profession, lived in such places
as Seattle, Cincinnati, Columbus, Indiana and Rossford. The last six years she lived in Perrysburg.
Lila loved the outdoors and the four seasons. She enjoyed downhill and cross country skiing and for a
time was a member of the Toledo Ski Club. She took up snorkeling, which she enjoyed doing on her world
travels. She loved to golf and while her husband was living they were members of Heatherdowns Country
Club. Lila and Paul enjoyed golfing, fishing and traveling. Lila continued to golf with friends until
about five years ago. Lila adored globetrotting and going on cruises with her dear friend Lotte
Nordmann.
She was devoted to her children, Craig and Dana, and was always involved in many of their activities. Her
son has fond memories of Lila taking him fishing for bluegills at Brown County, Indiana, State Park. She
and her son would always out fish the fathers and sons who couldn’t figure out the secret to their
success. (Her secret was that she used pieces of Hotdogs as bait instead of worms.)
Lila relished her trips to visit her daughter Dana and her family in LaCosta, California. She loved
sunbathing, swimming, walking and building sand castles at the beach with her grandchildren Taylor and
Logan. When the tides were out she excelled at beach croquet and bocci ball with a glass of wine in
hand. … Lila was always the life of the party and before the evening was over everyone knew and loved
her. She loved to dance and was even known to do the hula on a whim. She and Paul, while dancing, would
many times have people encircle them while at the Commodore, Hillcrest and Heatherdowns. She had a great
sense of humor and loved jokes. She even told a few jokes and yodeled for the family and nurses her last
days in M.I.C.U at Toledo Hospital.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Paul, by her loving parents and her grandson, Jason Hess. She
is survived and will be deeply missed by her son, Craig F. (Kristina) Frederickson and daughter, Dana L.
(Stephen) Hess, grandchildren, Lindsay N. (Patrick) Christians, Marine Sergeant C. Matthew Frederickson,
Taylor M. Hess, Emily E. (Matthew) Johnston and Logan W. Hess; and great-grandson Tyler M. Johnston. She
is also survived by her dear friend Stanley Tambor.
Lila’s family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at The Toledo Hospital, M.I.C.U. and the amazing
staff at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, in Perrysburg for their compassion, loving care and devotion to her
care during the last chapter of her life.
